Restoration Advisory Board celebrates 20th anniversary

The RAB, consisting of citizens and representatives from the Navy, U.S. Environmental Protetion Agency, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, celebrated their 20th anniversary with presentations that highlight the group's ongoing efforts in monitoring environmental remediation projects at Naval Station Newport.

    • Members Serve 2-year terms, must reside in or serve communities of Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport and Jamestown

      INSTALLATION RESTORATION (IR) PROGRAM

      • IRP is designed to identify and evaluate contaminated Navy facilities.
      • The IRP provides for compliance with procedural and substantive requirements of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) as amended by (SARA).
      • IRP includes proactive public programs and community relations.
